natural crystals and stones have been venerated throughout history for their special healing properties. early writings suggest that, in ancient greece and rome, certain stones were worn as talismans for health and protection; in ancient egypt, meditating with lapis lazuli was believed to help one attain a more intimate connection with the gods. other cultures, such as the mayans and native americans, used stones and crystals in the diagnosis as well as the healing of physical ailments.

crystal healing, like reiki, facilitates the alignment of our chakras and various energy bodies. the difference with this technique is that stones and crystals - rather than the practitioner - serve as the conduit for healing universal life force energy to reach the person being treated.

every natural stone and crystal has a special set of healing attributes; whether used alone or in groups, each promotes various healing effects on the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual bodies. for this reason, crystal healing can be a very precise healing technique.

crystal healing practitioners are taught to use intuition as well as their own learned knowledge about crystals and stones when working with a client. during a healing session, a succession of specific stones are placed either alone or in groups on the client's chakras and energy meridians to release energy blockages and facilitate his or her self-healing process. very often the client will have sensory reactions to the stones (warmth, tingling, etc.) as they work within the client's energy fields, but the overall result, as with reiki, is a general feeling of relaxation and wellness.

although she had always had a special fondness for stones, katherine truly awakened to the world of crystal healing in 2001. shortly thereafter, she began to incorporate stones into her space clearing practice by choosing them intuitively when preparing for a ceremony, then looking up their properties to see how they related to the client with whom she was working. she continues to be awed and inspired by the accuracy with which the perfect stones always seem to 'choose' themselves to be included in clearing and blessing ceremonies.

having witnessed the mineral kingdom's power in healing spaces, katherine gladly welcomed the opportunity in 2002 to study crystal healing for the human energy field. she completed her beginner certification in crystal healing through the crystal academy of advanced healing arts in december of that year, and now offers this technique as one of her holistic healing services.
